Today, we gather with heavy hearts, but also with gratitude, to remember and honour the life of our beloved Uncle, Anthony Sequeira, who passed away in 2026 at the age of 96.
Anthony was the second of six siblings. He was blessed to be part of a family rooted in faith and service, and one of his siblings answered the call to priesthood. These values of faith, simplicity and service remained an important part of Anthony's own life.
He spent many years working at the Gun Carriage Factory, Jabalpur, from where he retired. He was a very systematic, disciplined and well-organised person. He believed in doing things properly and in an orderly manner, qualities that those who knew him will always remember.
Faith was at the heart of Uncle Anthony's life. He was truly a God-fearing and prayerful man. As long as his health permitted and he could walk with ease, he would walk to church every day. His regular presence at church was a beautiful testimony to the importance he gave to his relationship with God. His faith was not merely something he spoke about—it was something he lived.
Anthony was also a man who loved people and enjoyed socialising. He valued friendships and companionship and was always happy to meet and converse with others. More importantly, he had a generous heart. Whenever he could, he helped people in need, often quietly and without seeking recognition.
He experienced the pain of losing his beloved wife three years ago. Yet, he continued his journey with courage, faith and the support of his family. He leaves behind his son, Robert Sequeira, who was an important part of his life and will carry forward his father's memory.
At the age of 96, Uncle Anthony leaves behind not only memories, but also an example—a life of faith, discipline, kindness, simplicity and service. His daily walk to church, his love for people, his organised nature and his willingness to help others are memories that will remain with all who knew him.
Today, as we say goodbye, we may feel the sadness of his absence. But we can also be grateful to God for the long life He blessed Anthony with and for the many years he shared with his family, friends and community.
May the Lord, whom Uncle Anthony faithfully followed throughout his life, welcome him into His eternal kingdom.
